Ramlabs handles chat, rewards and payments online. Companion delivers the action to VRChat on your computer using OSC, the protocol VRChat provides for external controls. A command works from any chat the bot reads, Kick, Twitch, Rumble and TikTok LIVE, and you choose which interactions viewers can trigger.
Turn a chat command or paid interaction into a bonk animation, a head-pat reaction or a burst of particles. These are ideas for effects already built into your avatar and exposed through a writable control. A momentary press can reset the control after the effect.
Let chat put on your glasses, switch a hat or reveal a prop using an existing avatar toggle. Companion can read a synced on/off control so an interaction follows changes you also make in VRChat.
Link your avatar's hue controls and let viewers request a colour by name, hex or RGB. Use it for hair, an outfit or an emission effect where the avatar supports it. For example, configure !colour blue to change a supported material.
Capture your current avatar or add avatar IDs to a list. Switch to a fixed avatar, pick randomly with repeat avoidance, or let a viewer choose by name. An optional timer can switch you back to a main avatar you select.
Connect an interaction to your Ramlabs wheel widget and configure its outcomes to fire avatar actions. A community wheel can choose the next prop or reaction while the wheel itself appears through your OBS overlay.
Connect Companion to OBS and let a command, reward or tip switch scenes, pop up a source, turn on a filter, play a clip or save a replay. Set a timer and OBS goes back on its own, unless you have already moved on.
Start a game while you are live and your Kick and Twitch categories switch to it. Companion recognises thousands of games on its own, and your list of running programs never leaves your PC. Add a rule when you want a different category or a game it does not know, and use debounce and cooldown settings to avoid constant switching. This also works for streams outside VRChat.
Start with one reliable avatar effect, then decide how viewers unlock it. Keep everyday participation accessible and give paid actions a clear, specific result.
Offer a free !wave or let regulars spend Ramlabs points on !bonk. Set chat audience restrictions and per-viewer or global cooldowns. These names are example commands you create, and each needs a matching avatar control.
How Ramlabs loyalty points workMap supported channel-point rewards, KICKs, Twitch Bits, TikTok gifts, subscriptions or gifted subscriptions to an interaction. For example, a sub can trigger a confetti effect or switch to a celebration avatar. Choose triggers available on your connected platform.
Create an interaction, then link it to a paid Interaction action in Monetization. Set a price, or a minimum with pay-what-you-want enabled. Turn on viewer input for colour requests or named avatar choices. A general tip only triggers the action when you configure the connection.
Support pages and viewer paymentsCompanion is free, with no subscription. Support-page payments carry the Ramlabs 5% platform fee plus Stripe processing fees. Ramlabs points and platform rewards are separate from those payments. Paid actions use their purchase as the gate, so chat audience restrictions and interaction cooldowns do not apply to them.
You do not need a new avatar if yours already exposes the controls you want. Companion discovers controls through OSCQuery; the avatar determines what those controls actually do.
A writable avatar parameter can drive a matching animation, prop or material. If your avatar has no suitable control, its creator needs to add one in Unity. Sending OSC does not create animations or simulate a physical touch on its own.
VRChat avatar parameter documentationOnly offer avatars your VRChat account can use through OSC, such as eligible favourites, recently used, uploaded or purchased avatars. Test each entry in your list. After switching, check the controls again because names and effects can differ between avatars.
VRChat avatar-switch supportA paid head pat can trigger an avatar reaction. Feeling it through a haptic vest or another device additionally needs compatible hardware and software that maps OSC or avatar signals to that device. Companion has no built-in haptic hardware driver. This is a custom integration idea, not a ready-made device feature.
Keep OBS for broadcasting and Companion connected for local actions. OSCQuery helps OSC applications discover one another. With face tracking or other OSC tools, check ports and avoid competing writes to the same avatar parameter. Desktop releases target Windows, macOS and Linux; VRChat compatibility depends on your own setup.
How VRChat OSCQuery worksUse a computer running Companion with a reachable VRChat OSC target. A standalone headset by itself cannot run the desktop Companion app.
Open Dashboard > Accounts > Companion app for the available downloads. Install Companion, open it and choose Sign in with Ramlabs. If you are already logged in to Ramlabs in your browser, approving it takes one click. Setting up a second PC? Choose Use a code instead and enter the code from any device. Your Ramlabs account and internet connection handle stream events.
In VRChat, open the Action Menu and enable OSC. In Dashboard > Interactions, detect your avatar controls, choose a toggle or effect and use Test on your avatar. If discovery misses VRChat, check the local target and port in Companion's OSC settings.
VRChat OSC setupAdd a command, points cost or platform event. For a paid option, connect your payout account and link the tested interaction on your support page. Explain the effect and duration to viewers. Keep Companion running, and disable paid actions when your setup is unavailable.
An OSC send is not confirmation that an animation played or a device responded. Test in the avatar and streaming setup you will actually use, including resets and switches.
Ramlabs Companion is a free desktop app that signs in with your Ramlabs streamer account. It connects online chat, rewards and paid interactions to local VRChat OSC controls, and can automatically update Kick and Twitch stream categories from running games. It needs an internet connection; it is not a fully offline bot.
Yes. A command works from any chat the bot reads, Kick, Twitch, Rumble and TikTok LIVE, and you configure which commands, points rewards and supported stream events trigger your avatar controls. Examples include accessory toggles, timed effects, colour changes and avatar switching. The avatar must expose suitable controls, and Companion and VRChat OSC must be running.
Viewers can buy a configured avatar interaction through your Ramlabs support page, including a bonk or head-pat animation if your avatar supports it. Physical feedback through hardware additionally requires a compatible device and a separate integration. Companion does not include device drivers or create touch effects on arbitrary avatars.
Yes. Add an allowed list of avatar IDs or capture your current avatar. Choose a fixed, random or viewer-selected switch, with an optional timed return to a main avatar. VRChat restricts OSC switching to eligible avatars your account can use. A viewer chooses from your list, not arbitrary avatars.
Yes, if the effect you want already has a writable OSC control. Use detection and the dashboard test to check. Companion can drive existing toggles, colours and animations, but it does not add missing avatar features. New effects may require changes by the avatar creator in Unity.
Create and test an interaction in the dashboard, then link it to a paid Interaction action in Monetization. Set a fixed price or enable pay-what-you-want with a minimum. Enable viewer input for colours or named avatar choices. Share your support page, keep Companion connected and disable paid actions when you cannot deliver them.
No. Chat commands and supported event triggers use interaction cooldowns. Support-page purchases use the payment as their gate and bypass interaction cooldowns, points costs and chat audience restrictions. Choose effects that can handle repeated purchases and disable the paid action when needed.
Yes, if you want them to. Companion reads the world you are in from VRChat's own log, and viewers can type !world to get its name and a link to its VRChat page. Only the world is shared, never your instance, so nobody can follow you into a private instance. Turn sharing off in Companion's VRChat settings or disable the command in your dashboard.
No. Companion recognises thousands of games by their program and sets the matching Kick and Twitch category when you start one while live. The check runs on your PC; only the name of the game it found is looked up. Add a rule to pick a different category, or tell it to ignore a game you keep open in the background.
Yes. The desktop app and Ramlabs features have no subscription or paid tier. Viewer payments through your support page have a 5% Ramlabs platform fee plus Stripe processing fees. Using free commands or Ramlabs loyalty points does not create a support-page payment.
Yes. Companion connects to OBS through its built-in WebSocket server, so chat can switch scenes, show or hide sources, turn filters on and off, play a media source and save a replay. Scene, source and filter changes support a timer that restores their previous state. It runs beside OBS; it is not an OBS plugin. VRChat OSCQuery helps applications discover each other. If you use face tracking or other OSC tools, check their port configuration and avoid sending conflicting values to the same parameter. Test your combination before streaming.
Companion has desktop release targets for Windows, macOS and Linux, with available installers listed in the dashboard. Use a computer with a reachable VRChat OSC target and a supported VRChat setup. A VR headset is not required for VRChat desktop mode; a standalone headset alone cannot run Companion.
