Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Ramlabs collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you use ramlabs.io and our streaming tools, overlays, text-to-speech, monetisation features, Discord bot, and companion app (the “Services”). We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (“APPs”).
Scope & roles
Ramlabs (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Services. This policy covers:
- Streamers — people who hold a Ramlabs account; and
- Viewers / supporters — members of a streamer’s audience who interact with the Services or make a payment to support a streamer.
When a Streamer uses Ramlabs to run their channel, some information about their Viewers is handled by us on the Streamer’s behalf so we can provide the tools they have configured. Streamers are responsible for their own handling of their audience’s information (see Streamer responsibilities).
What we collect
We collect only what is reasonably necessary to provide the Services, including:
Account information
Your name or username, email address, a hashed password, account settings, and delegated (sub-user) access you configure.
Connected-platform data
When you link a platform such as Kick, Twitch, Rumble, YouTube or Discord, we receive access tokens and information the platform exposes with your permission — for example your channel, chat messages, followers, subscribers, gifts, and stream events. This lets us power features like chat commands, TTS, alerts, goals and go-live announcements.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store full card numbers. For transactions we retain limited details such as amount, currency, status, a payment reference, and — for supporter payments — a supporter name, email, and any message submitted with the payment. Streamers who receive payouts provide payout and identity details directly to Stripe under Stripe Connect.
Content you submit
Chat messages processed for commands, moderation and TTS; TTS text and the audio generated from it (which may be cached); overlay and widget configuration; and any media you upload.
Usage, device & log data
IP address, browser and device information, session data, pages and features used, timestamps, error diagnostics, and activity such as watch-time tracking used to power stats and features.
Companion-app data
The desktop companion app runs locally on your device. To provide features such as automatic stream-category updates it may read the name of the application or game you are running, and it may exchange configuration and event data with your Ramlabs account. VRChat OSC messages are sent locally on your machine.
Discord-bot data
Where you add and configure our Discord bot, we process the guild, channel and message data needed for the features you enable — for example capturing a message and its media when it is reacted into an on-stream Spotlight, or posting go-live announcements.
Communications
Information you provide when you contact us for support or other enquiries.
How we use it
- to provide, operate, maintain and personalise the Services;
- to process payments, payouts, credits and related transactions;
- to generate text-to-speech, alerts, overlays, stats and other features you enable;
- to apply moderation and enforce our Terms of Service;
- to keep the Services secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and debug problems;
- to respond to your enquiries and provide support;
- to improve and develop the Services; and
- to comply with our legal obligations.
Where the APPs require your consent to collect or use certain information, we will obtain it, and you can withdraw consent by contacting us (this may limit some features).
Who we share with
We share personal information only as needed to run the Services, including with:
- Payment processing — Stripe, to process payments and payouts;
- Connected platforms — Kick, Twitch, Rumble, YouTube and Discord, to the extent needed to power features you enable;
- Infrastructure & tooling — hosting, storage and error-monitoring providers (such as Sentry) that support the Services;
- The relevant Streamer — where you are a Viewer, information about your interactions and supporter payments is made available to the Streamer you interact with; and
- Legal & safety — authorities or others where we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Services.
If Ramlabs is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
Payments & Stripe
Card payments and payouts are handled by Stripe as an independent payment processor. When you make a payment, your card details are collected and processed by Stripe under Stripe’s Privacy Policy, not by us. We receive only limited transaction metadata as described above. Streamers who onboard for payouts have a direct relationship with Stripe under Stripe Connect.
Connected platforms
When you link a third-party platform, that platform’s own privacy policy also applies to the data it holds and shares. You can disconnect a platform at any time from your dashboard or the platform’s settings, which stops future access, though information already processed may be retained as described in How long we keep it.
Overseas storage
Some of our providers — including Stripe and certain infrastructure and monitoring services — may store or process personal information outside Australia. Where we disclose information to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services and for legitimate business or legal purposes. Account information is generally retained until you delete your account; transaction and payout records may be retained longer to meet financial, tax and legal obligations; and diagnostic logs and generated TTS audio are retained for limited periods. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including encryption of data in transit, hashing of passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; if we become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will respond in line with our obligations, including the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Your rights
Under the APPs you may:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information or close your account, subject to records we must keep by law; and
- withdraw consent or opt out of non-essential communications.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@bot.ramlabs.io. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Viewers & supporters
If you interact with a Streamer’s channel or make a supporter payment, we process your information to deliver that interaction and to make the relevant details available to the Streamer. The Streamer decides how they use information about their own audience. If you have a request about information held by a specific Streamer, contact that Streamer; you can also contact us and we will help where we can.
Streamer responsibilities
As a Streamer, you may access personal information about your Viewers through the Services (for example supporter names, messages and events). You are responsible for handling that information lawfully, including complying with any privacy obligations that apply to you, using it only for legitimate purposes connected to your channel, and honouring your audience’s reasonable requests.
Children
The Services are not directed to children. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to hold an account or make a payment. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date above; for material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Services after an update takes effect means you accept it.
Contact & complaints
For any privacy question or request, or to make a complaint about how we have handled your personal information, contact us at privacy@bot.ramlabs.io. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within a reasonable time.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
